[attr="class","ninti"] RULES
[break][break][attr="class","nibo"]
[attr="class","nilettl"] REGISTERING
[break][attr="class","nico"]
[break][break]- You must be 13 years of age or older. This is a ProBoards rule. Having parental permission does not waive this rule.
- Abandoned accounts are deleted periodically. If you register, please make a character.
- After registering an account, please change your display name to FIRSTNAME LASTNAME (in all caps) of your character. Please note that our site coding shows display names in all caps automatically, you still have to go into your settings and change that to all caps yourself.
- Face claims (play-bys) are required.
- Images must be of your character’s celebrity face claim. We do not allow anything else unless the character has a child. Then the child’s image may be used for one of the smaller images. Images cannot be animals or anime/art.
[break]- The Profile Avatar (found under Profile tab > Edit Profile > Avatar) image must be a square image. The recommended size is 200x200 pixels.
- The Custom Avatar (found under Profile tab > Edit Profile > Personal > 250x400 Avatar) must be 250x400 pixels.
- The rectangle image (found under Profile tab > Edit Profile > Personal > 200x150 Gif/Image) must be 200x150 pixels.
- The square image (found under Profile tab > Edit Profile > Personal > 200x200 Gif/Image) must be 200x200 pixels.
- The application image (found in the application) must be 500x350 pixels.
[attr="class","nilettl"] GENERAL RULES
[break][attr="class","nico"]
[break][break]- X-Generation’s rating is set in stone for a reason. If the staff feels that it is not being upheld, the member in question will be contacted privately. The site’s rating is located directly under the chat box.
- Respect your admins and moderators. We are here to help. Being rude will not get you anywhere, and it will not be tolerated at all.
- Be nice to other members. If you have a problem with someone, alert the staff privately.
- If you would like to advertise for a site of your own, please go to our Advertising board and do so there.
- Signatures have been turned off on this forum.
- Guests, our Advertisement board is guest friendly. Please do not create an account to advertise.
- Members and guests, do not advertise to other members via private messaging. Members, if you receive an advertisement for another site, please contact the administration immediately through PM or Skype.
- If you have any questions, either pop into chat or PM one of the X-Gen Staff Team members.
[attr="class","nilettl"] CHAT ETIQUETTE
[break][attr="class","nico"]
[break][break]- Be polite, to staff, to guests, to members.
- Do not advertise. This includes other sites, sites for monetary gain, etc.
- Do not flood the chat. This means, do not submit several messages in a rapid-fire manner into the chat box. If this occurs, the chat box will automatically lock your account, preventing you from posting in the chat for several minutes.
- Please register your chat name with a short alias. Anything too long, and you will be asked to shorten it.
- Do not argue with the staff. If you wish to discuss or challenge something that was said, take it to private messaging. This rule will be strictly enforced.
- Do not be vulgar. The chat has an automatic censor.
- Do not use text-style language (i.e. c u l8r) excessively.
[attr="class","nilettl"] ALL APPLICATIONS
[break][attr="class","nico"]
[break][break]- Please use the following layout when posting your application: Firstname Lastname (WIP) if it is a work in progress and that it is not finished. Once the application is completed, remove the (WIP) from the end.
- Please keep in mind that applications are not customizable. Do not deviate from the provided code. Look to others to see how power/weaknesses are divided up.
- The image in the application is 500x350px and should remain a static (non-moving) image. There is a place provided in the mini profile for gifs.
- Please do not post extra pictures, flash images, or videos in your application. If you would like to include extras of these, link using the [*url=linkhere]description[*/url] coding. Be sure to remove the asterisks (*).
- Only celebrity face claims are allowed. No Tumblr-famous people, anime characters, anyone from the general population (such as yourself), or Vine-famous people.
- Face claims need to be close to the age of the character that they represent, generally within ten years of the character they will represent. If you have issues finding a suitable face claim, contact Alaska.
- Our members sometimes access X-Gen from work. Only SFW (safe for work) images may be used for avatars and gifs.
- You are not allowed to request a celebrity who is already in use by another member.
- Please complete your application within 10 days of posting it. Failure to do so will result in the application being denied.
- Once a staff member has provided feedback, you have 5 days to make the requested edits. Failure to do so will result in the application being denied.
- Please do not discuss your application or chosen powerset in the chat box. That is what our application staff members are for, and the sooner you get an application filled out, the sooner you can start writing!
- Do not copy/paste directly from any online source (Wikipedia, Comicvine, Powerlisting, etc).
- This is an X-Men exclusive site. We do not allow Avengers, Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, or any other Marvel universes.
- Be advised of the powers that are currently restricted and/or banned on-site at the moment. That list can be found here.
- Do not join a thread until your character has been approved.
- Please be patient and kind to the staff members as they work with you to get your character ready for the world of X-Gen.
- Once accepted, please fill out the claims linked in the approval stamp.
- The Staff Team reserves the right to outright deny any character application that they see fit for any reason they so choose.
- Everyone starts out with one character. Once that character reached 25 in-character posts, you may create another character. After that, each character must have 45 in-character posts (or be active for three consecutive months**) to qualify the player for the next character.
- If you are not sure if you qualify for the 3 months active, please message a staff member.
- Characters from Marvel Undead arcs are not allowed unless otherwise stated.
[attr="class","nilettl"] CANON APPLICATIONS
[break][attr="class","nico"]
[break][break]- Deceased Canons cannot be played/revived unless the staff has an in-depth discussion about it. However, the chance of this happening is slim.
- Any play-by’s/face claims used by deceased characters are not allowed.
- Canon characters with Omega-level powers need staff approval before you can create them.
- If you want to play a canon character that isn’t listed, do not hesitate to ask a staff member in chat or PM a member of the Staff Team.
- Canon characters that were not in the movies must have had their first appearance in an X-Men comic to be playable. This includes X-Force and X-Factor, but does not include pop-off comics, such as Wolverine or Deadpool.
[attr="class","nilettl"] ORIGINAL APPLICATIONS
[break][attr="class","nico"]
[break][break]- Do not duplicate the power set of any canon character.
- Original characters (OCs) must only be 2/3 – 3/4 the power level of a canon character with similar abilities.
- Original characters with Omega-level powers are not allowed.
- Original character with Alpha-level powers are not allowed.
- If you would like an original character to be related to a canon character, you must have approval of the staff and, if applicable, approval of the player writing said canon character.
- When deciding the height of your character, it is best to use the height of the celebrity you choose.
- Original Characters can have up to three powers, but the three powers must be directly related.
[attr="class","nilettl"] ROLEPLAYING
[break][attr="class","nico"]
[break][break]- Posts must be written in third person and past tense (example: “He ran to the door.”).
- No text-style language (i.e “c u l8r”) in posts unless it is in a text message your character is reading or sending.
- Do not double post. There is an “EDIT” button to make any changes you wish to make.
- Place quotation marks around dialogue in your posts. Many members use different colors to accompany the quotation marks, but this is not required.
- When speaking Out of Character (OOC) in a post, please place the note before or after the entire post and use parenthesis or brackets. Example: //OOC: This is an Out of Character note.//
- This is a literate site, so please use proper grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. We currently have no word count for in-character posts; however, one-liner responses are strictly not allowed. The word for the application is silence.
- Please put a simple OOC note at the end of the final post to show that a thread is finished.
- Only tag people in threads they have agreed to be a part of, and do so using the following layout: Thread Title (open) / Thread Title (John) / Thread Title (John/open).
- Character pregnancies are allowed but must be approved by the staff team. This also applies to creating characters who already have children who might be NPC’d by the player.
- If a thread is going to contain sexual content, either post the thread in provided password protected boards or keep it PG-13 with a time-skip.
[attr="class","nilettl"] GOD-MODDING
[break][attr="class","nico"]
As a general rule, God-Modding should not occur without express permission of the parties involved in any thread. In select situations, God-Modding privileges may be granted by the X-Gen Staff Team for the sake of plot completion. Those situations may include, but are not limited to, the following:
[break][break]
[break]
[li]If a thread containing a situation or dialogue that is important to a plot/specific character's development and was previously agreed on by all members involved is marked as hiatus or abandoned due to member leaving the site, the remaining member(s) may write the end of the thread as it was supposed to happen.
As a general rule, God-Modding should not occur without express permission of the parties involved in any thread. In select situations, God-Modding privileges may be granted by the X-Gen Staff Team for the sake of plot completion. Those situations may include, but are not limited to, the following:
[break][break]
- If a member leaves the site or is deemed inactive to the point where the character account is deleted, members left in the thread have permission to god-mod the inactive character.
- This means that the character can either be written out of the situation by fairly normal means, such as suddenly seeming distracted and leaving the conversation or needing to leave the room, or the member can edit their previous post to end the thread and portray what happened.
[break]
[li]If a thread containing a situation or dialogue that is important to a plot/specific character's development and was previously agreed on by all members involved is marked as hiatus or abandoned due to member leaving the site, the remaining member(s) may write the end of the thread as it was supposed to happen.
[break]
- For example: "They discussed the matter in full, deciding that they would be working together after all to rescue John's brother. Knowing that Adam would have the help he needed, he could rest much easier."
[break]
[li]Site wide plots, character arch subplots, or quick time events may now include posting deadlines* set by the plot's creator. Deadline must be stated clearly on the plot's page and may not be changed after the first person signs up for participation in the plot.[/li]
[break]
- For example: If the deadline is set for five days later and the next reply is not made within that deadline, the members involved have the permission to write something to move the thread forward or ignore the character completely.
- This may only be done in threads containing more than two characters, and in the case of site plots, permission to God-Mod must be granted from a plot admin facilitating that plot.
[/ul]
[break][break]
* Please note that deadlines do not have to be set on any plot and that if at any time you are uncertain about if your situation falls within the above specifications or not, you can private message one of the X-Gen Staff Team members for further clarification. Also note that the no double posting rule still applies. The above steps must be completely through edits made to previously made posts.
[/div][break][break]
[attr="class","nilettl"] ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS
[break][attr="class","nico"]
[break][break]- Activity checks occur periodically. Be sure to read the details of a posted activity check to make sure you follow the guidelines.
- Activity in the chat box is not the same as activity on the site.
- We encourage you to post one time a week for every character that you have. If you have five characters, then we encourage five posts per week.
- Simply not posting is not allowed.
- When speaking Out of Character (OOC) in a post, please place the note before or after the entire post and use parenthesis, brackets, or some other way to acknowledge that it is not in-character. Example: //OOC: This is an out of character note.//
- If you have been deemed inactive and your account has been deleted after failing to complete an activity check, you will have to go through the application process again to play the same character.
[attr="class","nilettl"] LOAs (LEAVES OF ABSENCE)
[break][attr="class","nico"]
- If you are planning on being away for a bit (vacations, weekend getaways, finals week, etc), please post a Leave of Absence (LOA).
- If you are too swamped to login and post an LOA, please contact one of the other members on site (we’ve got Facebook, many members use Skype or Discord, etc.) and politely ask them to post an LOA for you.
